The new top-tier iPhone will get a higher-end chip according to analysts

According to one analyst's forecast, the premium iPhone 14 will also have a premium performance bump.

The new iPhone range isn't scheduled to arrive until the fall, but when it does, Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo predicts that the iPhone 14 Pro will have an A16 CPU, while the other models will have the A15 Bionic chip, which powers the current iPhone 13 lineup.

"Only two Pro models will receive the A16 processor upgrade, while the 14 and 14 Max will remain on the A15," Kuo wrote in a tweet on Sunday.

He did say, however, that all iPhone 14 models will have 6 gigabytes of RAM, with the base versions having a 6.1-inch display and the Max variants sporting a 6.7-inch display.

The base model of Apple's last two iPhone lines had the same 6.1-inch display, with the Pro Max having a 6.7-inch display. According to the same Nikkei Asian Review rumor from July, Apple will continue with these screen sizes for the iPhone 14, and will not include the 5.4-inch Mini.

The iPhone 14 may also include Wi-Fi 6E, making it the first iPhone to do away with conventional SIM cards entirely.

Apple will host its annual fall iPhone event in September 2022, as it does nearly every year, with the phones arriving soon after.
